June 15th:
For all those who are wondering, I have done a lot the last two weeks! To be honest, these last two weeks have felt like an eternity. I finally understand how in God's kingdom, a thousand years is like a day and a day is like a thousand years.
The third week of my internship, I built a house with a Casas staff member named Mikell West. A fellow intern was also with us for this build. The team we worked with was from St. Louis Missouri. We built a double for a young widow and her children. It was a fruitful but stressful week. There were so many times that God gave us a spirit of peace rather than getting frustrated.
After that build, I was able to fly home for my sister's wedding. She was so beautiful and my prayer is that God would richly bless them. Once again, I would like to thank my church family. You have comforted and strengthened me in ways you never will now. After my trip home, I flew back to El Paso before the start of the start of my fourth week of my internship.
For the fourth week, all of the interns built a home together without any staff members. There was only 7 of us building a double! We worked Monday through Friday from 7am to 8pm. It was a complete struggle. I could not have made it without all of your prayers. We spent so much time trying to get done that we didn't spend a lot of time encouraging each other in God. Everything that could go wrong did. Even the tin snips weren't working right. I started to complain but I remember the verse, "Do everything without arguing or complaining." I made a priority to get through it and to complete my work with a smile. Not to long after that, God provided a new set of tin snips that I found in that back of our truck. I think God has a sense of humor and I really felt blessed in that moment. God bless all of you and don't stop praying for me!
Joh 14:1 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
March 26th:
In our first two weeks as Casas por Cristo interns, we have already build two houses and helped finish work on another house as well. Through love, faithfulness, and unity in Spirit, house 4,000 was built in Juarez last week! It was such an amazing work to be a part of. We could not have accomplished it without the help from the Lord.
Please pray for the mission but also for me. Pray that God would use me to do his work in Mexico. Pray that my ears would be opened to His calling, to be still and listen at times, discernment to be silent or to open my mouth with encouragement.
In closing, I would like to quote a scripture that has helped me this week.
Jeremiah 29:13-4:
13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.
